The Nxled Chameleons clawed their way back from a precarious position to defeat the Galeries Tower Highrisers in a thrilling five-set battle (25-19, 22-25, 25-18, 25-27, 15-12) to open the 2024 PVL Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena on Tuesday, July 16th.
While American import Meegan Hart's presence proved impactful, it was Mae Luna who ignited the Chameleons' comeback and secured the opening day victory.
Down early in the deciding fifth set, Nxled needed a spark. Enter Luna.
The Chameleon unleashed a personal 4-0 scoring run, shifting the momentum in their favor.
Although Galeries Tower threatened a comeback, Luna remained unfazed.
Her clutch performance, coupled with a vital closing point from Chiara Permentilla, sealed the deal for the Chameleons.
Luna finished the match with a well-rounded performance of 17 points, including 15 attacks, a block, and an ace.
