Chery Tiggo has undeniably hit full throttle in the home stretch of the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference elimination round.

Riding the crest of momentum, the Crossovers blew past the Akari Chargers in straight sets, 25-17, 25-20, 25-17, at the Sta.Rosa Sports Complex on Saturday.

The resounding sweep extended Eya Laure and Chery Tiggo’s winning streak to six games.

With such a timely good run of play, the younger of the Laure siblings hopes the team manages to sustain their fine, cohesive form moving forward.

“I hope magpatuloy talaga siya hanggang sa remaining game namin. ‘Yung bond na nabuo namin sana madala namin hanggang dulo at nakikita naman din siguro, evident siya sa laro na napapakita namin na lagi kaming… we got each other’s backs nga talaga,” said Laure.

At this stage of the conference, maintaining their momentum and performance is crucial for Laure and the Crossovers.

Chery Tiggo is in the thick of a heated semis race, where four other contending teams continue to jostle for positioning with only a fine margin of separation in between.

The Crossovers currently sit at provisional fourth place with an 8-2 record for 23 points, holding an identical record with Final Four frontrunners Petro Gazz Angels (25 points), Choco Mucho Flying Titans (24 points), and Creamline Cool Smashers (24 points). A minor slip up could mean missing the Final Four.

Laure understands that, and should Chery Tiggo continue its pursuit of a semis berth, proper conditioning and preparation are paramount to their success.

To that end, the 25-year-old hotshot shared that the coaching staff and management have consistently provided the Crossovers with the necessary resources and support to meet these demands.

“I think tamang preparation and recovery din talaga. Kasi sometimes, kahit anong klaseng pukpok sa training kung wala ring guidance nila coach, sometimes nauubos din,” Laure said.

“Ayun, may maganda kasi kaming recovery time, may maganda kaming programa, sistema sa training and yun siguro yung kaya nagagawa namin ‘tong mga panalo na ‘to. Of course yung support din ng management samin na may mga binibigay silang suporta, like may mga pa spa sila, pakain, that’s why yung mental namin kahit papaano narerecharge. Malaking bagay din po yun.”

With only a game remaining in their elimination round schedule, Laure and her teammates are making sure that the team would not fall into a pit of complacency. This, as the Crossovers will face the also-ran Galeries Tower Highrisers on on April 25, Thursday, at the PhilSports Arena.

“Lagi namang pinapaalala samin ng coaches and everyone naman na respetuhin ‘yung kalaban. Siyempre balik kami sa training, pagaaralan ulit namin sila, may mga scouting pa rin kami na kumbaga kung ano ‘yung normal na ginagawa namin sa ibang team, gagawin din namin dito sa Galeries,” Laure assured.
