It took 11 years, but it finally happened.

Back in February 2013, a young and impressionable Bea de Leon--wearing a white La Salle t-shirt--took a photo with Michele Gumabao, who was playing for the DLSU Lady Spikers in the UAAP.

"One day, I will play at Araneta with her in front of a thousand people, doing what I love to do," BDL tweeted.

"Watching them, she (Gumabao) was obviously on the other side of the court. And at that time, I was lucky enough kasi kakilala ng kuya ko 'yung courtside reporter ng La Salle noon, si Ate Billie Capistrano. Ayun, she gave me the privilege to have a picture with Ate MG," de Leon told One Sports in an earlier interview.

"At that time, I was just starting to consider playing and ayun, it was something that I didn’t think would happen at all. Given all the things that happened. I played for Ateneo, Choco Mucho… it was something I thought was just up in the air until it happened," De Leon added.

That dream seemed pretty far away. BDL after all, went on to play for DLSU's rivals, the Ateneo Blue Eagles.

Upon turning pro, de Leon suited up for the Choco Muco Flying Titans... until last year that is.

On Thursday, April 18, 2024, that finally became a reality.

Bea de Leon and Michele Gumabao had a photo together as they teamed up for the Creamline Cool Smashers and celebrated a victory inside the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

This time, it was MG wearing the white shirt, while de Leon was still in her jersey.

It was extra sentimental too, as Bea de Leon was hailed Player of the Game, delivering nine points built on six attacks and three blocks against her former team, the Choco Mucho Flying Titans.

"Dream come true," BDL said.

Just another proof that manifestation totally works, no matter how long it takes.
