The PLDT High Speed Hitters continue to surge in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference after dismantling the Akari Chargers in straight sets, 25-17, 25-20, 25-19, at the PhilSports Arena on Tuesday afternoon.

With the rout, the High Speed Hitters extended their winning run to four for an improved 6-1 record, creating a two-way tie atop the standings with the Creamline Cool Smashers.

PLDT relied on the one-two scoring punch of Majoy Baron and Savi Davison.

Baron spearheaded the offensive thrust with 13 points built on eight attacks, three aces and two blocks, while Davison put up a double-double of 11 markers and 11 digs.

The two came through in the decisive third frame, where the High Speed Hitters turned a 5-7 deficit into a commanding 15-8 lead before going on cruise control the rest of the way.

Erika Santos provided ample support with nine points, while Dell Palomata and Fiola Ceballos pitched in seven markers apiece.

Kim Fajardo flaunted her offensive brilliance, churning out 14 excellent sets to go along with eight markers.

The Chargers fell to a 2-5 slate, as no one from their side scored in double figures.

Dindin Santiago-Manabat topped the losing side with nine points, while Grethcel Soltones had eight points, six digs, and 11 receptions that went for naught.

Ced Domingo did not suit up in the bout as she nursed a right knee pain.

PLDT aims to bolster its semis bid when it takes on Strong Group Athletics on April 9, Tuesday, at the same Pasig venue.

Akari, on the other hand, seeks to stay in the hunt when it collides with Galeries Tower on April 6, Saturday, at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex.
