Majoy Baron delivered her best performance in a PLDT uniform on Saturday, leading the High Speed Hitters to a straight-set rout of the Farm Fresh Foxies in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

The 5-foot-11 middle blocker netted 11 points built on seven attacks, two blocks, and two aces to help buoy the High Speed Hitters to a 5-1 record, good for joint first with defending champion Creamline.

This serves as a welcome development for Baron, who is steadily adjusting to PLDT's system after coming up with only one double-digit production in their past five outings.

"Of course natututo pa rin ako along the way pero I can say na hindi naman ako nahihirapan mag-adjust sa system," the former La Salle and F2 Logistics stalwart said.

Baron is one of the new recruits of PLDT in the off-season.

She, alongside Kim Fajardo and Kianna Dy, decided to reinforce the High Speed Hitters in the wake of F2 Logistics' disbandment.

Having spent over seven years of her pro career with the Cargo Movers, it has taken a while for Baron to adjust. But it certainly does help that she has history with PLDT's setters.

Baron is a longtime partner of Fajardo since their days as Lady Spikers, while she has linked up with Rhea Dimaculangan during her national team stints in the past.

"Kasama ko rin si ate Kim, so hindi na rin ako nag adjust sa setting, and si ate Rhea naging teammate ko siya before hindi naman mahirap mag adjust," she shared.

More than anything, Baron is pleased to see PLDT string up three consecutive wins while operating as a cohesive unit.

"Happy kasi nakuha na namin ‘yung momentum and mas nakikilala na namin ‘yung isa’t isa sa loob ng court and mas nakakasunod kami sa sistema," she said.

Baron and the High Speed Hitters aim to sustain their fine form when they take on the Akari Chargers on April 2, Tuesday.
