PVL: Dawn Macandili-Catindig grateful for Jovelyn Gonzaga's guiding presence in Cignal

Dawn Macandili-Catindig is overwhelmed with gratitude following Cignal's breakthrough win to start the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference Saturday.

The 5-foot defensive specialist delivered a 22-dig, 11-reception production, helping the HD Spikers buck an opening-set hiccup and come away with a four-set victory over the Akari Chargers.

For such a fine performance, Catindig simply wanted to repay the trust given by Cignal.

"First of all, siguro grateful. Very grateful kasi na-feel ko talaga ‘yung tiwala ng mga coaches kung sino ‘yung nasa loob," the former F2 Logistics stalwart expressed.

"Although ‘yun nga, slow start kami, na-feel namin ‘yung tiwala ni Coach (Shaq Delos Santos) na makakabalik kami."

Catindig has steadily integrated herself in Cignal's system.

It seemed like a seamless transition, and Catindig has Jovelyn Gonzaga to thank for.

"Sa short months na I’ve been playing with the team, nandun din kasi ‘yung guidance, especially si Ate Jov," she bared.

The decorated libero shared that Gonzaga serves as the glue that binds Cignal together, fostering a sense of camaraderie and unity.

"Ngayon ko lang nakalaro si Ate Jov with Cignal, so sobrang laking tulong din kasi siya ‘yung nag-cocollate sa team kapag medyo scattered na," Catindig said of Gonzaga, who played for Philippine Army in the PNVF Champions League, delaying their partnership to the PVL season proper.

"Sobrang laking tulong talaga na may senior na gumagabay sa team."

Catindig's morale is undeniably on a high, and she remains steadfast in her bid to lead her new team to great heights.

"Siyempre happy ako with this new team na may bago na naman akong pamilya. Very grateful lang talaga and I’m just taking it one day at a time," she stated.
