PVL: Savi Davison builds instant connection with Kim Fajardo in PLDT

Savannah Davison is undeniably a scoring machine. 

Even seasoned setter Kim Fajardo, who had the luxury of playing with offensive juggernauts like Kalei Mau and Lindsay Stalzer, could not help but marvel at the Fil-Canadian's prowess.

"Advantage talaga sakin 'yun na meron kaming Savi. So kumpiyansa ako na lahat ng sets, kahit anong ibigay sa kaniya, kaya niyang gawan ng paraan and way para maka-point," the former F2 Logistics Cargo Movers stalwart bared.

Such confidence was evident in PLDT's straight-set whipping of Galeries Tower, 25-22, 25-6, 25-9, in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday.

Fajardo fanned out 11 excellent sets, a bulk of which ended up as a point for Davison.

Davison would then finish with a game-high 19 points built on 16 attacks, two blocks and an ace. She also collected nine digs and eight receptions.

Safe to say, Davison has already built a strong connection with Fajardo.

"I think having her smarts is a really big thing that we take advantage of. Her being a setter, her being offensive-(minded) is one thing, but her talking to everyone and telling us what to do and what to run is a really good sign of leadership on the court," Davison shared.

For her part, Davison doesn't want to fall into complacency, after emerging as the top scorer in the previous conference.

She simply strives to remain as a reliable source of strength for PLDT.

"I hope to start every season on a clean slate. It just gives me something to work towards. I don't really like to put that additional pressure on myself. You play the best when you play calmly and freely," Davison said.

"So I'm just happy with the outcome and I just want to be that go-to person on the court, and if the points show up, then the points show up."

The PLDT High Speed Hitters will next take on the Nxled Chameleons on February 27, Tuesday, at the Philsports Arena.
