The best #PVLMediaDay sneakers

The best #PVLMediaDay sneakers
Cop or drop?
Who said fire sneakers are limited only to basketball?

The beauty of the sneaker culture is it’s essentially open to everyone, wear what you like and don’t let the naysayers distract you from rocking anything according to your taste.

Shoes were never meant to be limited in box, and in true outside the box fashion, some of your favorite volleyball stars have taken to wearing basketball sneakers on the taraflex.

And with #PVLMediaDay, some took the opportunity to put on some fire. Here are some of the best.

Alyssa Valdez - Kobe 8 "Halo"

Alyssa is essentially a pioneer of wearing Kobe sneakers in the mainline volleyball scene. She wore the original Kobe 8s during her title runs in Ateneo, and with the 8s returning in Protro form, spearheaded by last year's "Halo" release, the Phenom is back to rocking her favorites.

Mars Alba - Kobe 8 "Court Purple"

Speaking of the 8s, Mars Alba paired her fresh Choco Mucho threads with the recently-released "Court Purples" that donned the Black Mamba's retired jersey numbers in no. 8 and no. 24. Do we know if Mars is a Mamba disciple? We'll have to find out, but her new team is perfect if she's to continue wearing Kobes.

Kianna Dy - Kobe 6 "Reverse"

When Kobe initially decided to go low with his sneakers, he said he was inspired by football cleats and their low-top nature, giving players free range of motion. So it only makes sense that Kobe's low tops have become one of the most versatile sneakers out there, with the 6 serving as the final evolution of the initial low-top Kobe movement that started with the Kobe 4. KKD rocks the "Reverse" colorway, a play on the popular Grinch model that originally released in 2010. Seems perfect for her new PLDT uni.

Dani Ravena - Sabrina 1 "BKLYN's Finest"

Sabrina Ionescu is a true Kobe disciple, so it only makes sense that her Sabrina 1s are essentially the most Kobe sneakers out there that aren't actually Kobes. The new Brooklyn's finest colorway is naturally a nod to her New York Liberty, but they still do fit on Dani Ravena and her colorful Nxled Chameleons.

Eya Laure - LeBron 20 x Mimi Plange

LeBrons have released in low-top versions before, but the LeBron 20 were the first to go low straight out of release. The model was popular among PVL stars, with Deanna Wong and Vanie Gandler rocking them last season. But for #PVLMediaDay, Eya Laure brought out the premium floral versions in collaboration with Ghanian designer Mimi Plange. If the shoes look familiar, they're the same ones Jordan Clarkson wore in Gilas Pilipinas' win over China in the FIBA Wold Cup.

Jen Nierva - Curry 11 Bruce Lee "Wind"

The Curry brand released a fleet of Bruce Lee sneakers for the 11s, including this "Wind" colorway worn by Jen Nierva. Simple and effective, just like her game.
