Get ready for the swaggier Crossovers.
The Chery Tiggo Crossovers had absolutely no brakes when they started the year with a couple of bombshells--signing up outside spiker Ara Galang and middle blocker Aby Maraño from the disbanded F2 Logistics Cargo Movers.
But why the Crossovers? Why join the team which fell just short of a podium finish during the 2023 PVL Second All-Filipino Conference?
Galang explained what while there were offers from other teams, the key for her was the speed.
"Isa rin kasi si Chery Tiggo sa unang nagbigay ng interest na gusto kaming mapunta sa team nila right after ng announcement ng (F2 Logistics) disbandment," Galang told Noli Eala on One PH's Power & Play on Saturday.
"Isang factor din po 'yung makikita na 'ay, gusto ka ng team na 'to, gusto ka ng coaches na 'to, may nakikita silang potential na makakatulong sa team nila," she added.
And it turns out, Galang wants to try the iron lessons that honed Eya Laure and the rest of the UST Growling Tigresses.
"Ako po, si Coach Kungfu (Reyes) din 'yung gusto kong ma-experience, matuto sa kaya," Galang said.
Talaga ba, Ara?
Longtime F2 Logistics team captain Aby Maraño expressed the same sentiments.
"Si Chery Tiggo yung isa teams na nag-message right after ma-disband 'yung F2. Aside from that, ever since, consistent si Chery magpakita ng interest with me," she told Eala in the same interview.
"Malaking factor na even up until nung 2023, nandun pa rin 'yung interest ni Chery na maging part ako ng team nila."
So the key to getting Ara and Aby? Mabilis at consistent na panunuyo.
It also helped that Tyang has long dreamed of playing together with best friend Mylene Paat in a professional team.
While Galang was impressed with how they were treated by the management, even during the holidays and the thanksgiving parties.
"Parang galing lang kami sa bakasyon, parang 'uy, welcome back," she noted.
