'Sarap umarangkada': Aby Maraño shares what fans can expect with Chery Tiggo move

Expect a fiercer version of the Chery Tiggo Crossovers with the addition of former F2 Logistics Cargo Movers team captain Aby Maraño.

The middle blocker will be joining outside spiker Ara Galang in coach Kungfu Reyes' squad, the Crossovers announced on Tuesday.

And if there's one thing that fans can expect from Tyang Aby—aside from her colorful hairclips—is that she will always be a strong vocal presence for her teammates both in and out of the court.

"They've (the fans) known me as a player with a very big heart. Very passionate, vocal, and a leader, so I want them to expect that from me. Going to Chery Tiggo, dadalhin ko lahat 'yun," Maraño said in an interview with the Crossovers.

She is now the fourth Cargo Mover who has signed up with another squad in the PVL after F2 Logistics disbanded its pro volleyball squad after the Second All-Filipino Conference.

While Galang admitted it would be her first time to play with a squad other than F2 Logistics, Maraño said she's excited to play with familiar faces in Chery Tiggo.

"Nakasama ko na sila from the national team—especially sina Mylene Paat, si Jasmine Nabor, si Shaya (Adorador), si Eya (Laure), (Jen) Nierva, and a lot more. So excited ako to be working with these players," she added.

Other former Cargo Movers have already found new PVL homes such as libero Dawn Macandili-Catindig with the Cignal HD Spikers, and flexible spiker Ivy Lacsina with the Nxled Chameleons

The Crossovers entered the previous conference with prized rookies in Best Outside Spiker Eya Laure, reliable bench scorer Princess Robles, rising libero Jen Nierva, and playmaker Joyme Cagande.

However, young middle blocker Imee Hernandez had to cut her conference short after suffering an injury. They finished fourth in the Second All-Filipino Conference, their best of the 2023 season.

The eight-time Best Middle Blocker in the Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) and in the 2021 PNVF Champions League for Women now made a vow to fans as she switches jersey colors from yellow and white to red and black.

"We hope na sabayan nila kami at samahan kami sa new journey namin with Chery. To all the Chery Tiggo fans, excited kami para sa inyong mainit na pagtanggap. Sana po ay makuha natin 'yung goal natin," Maraño said.

"We will try our best and work hard to give you a really, really great fight. Ipaglalaban natin ang Chery."
