How did she end up in a volleyball game?
Alex Eala was a surprise fan among the record 24,459 supporters that showed up Game 2 of the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference finals between the Creamline Cool Smashers and Choco Mucho Flying Titans.
The Filipino tennis sensation was also surprised to learn even volleyball fans inside the Smart Araneta Coliseum recognized her.
“I’m quite surprised that people know who I am here, syempre puro volleyball (fans dito),” she said.
This only goes to show tennis is also growing in this nation where basketball, volleyball, and football are the Holy Trinity of team sports.
And the 18-year-old has a lot to do with that after reaching milestones like winning a Grand Slam.
“I am happy to see that people are following tennis. It really shows my work also kind of makes a difference within Philippine sports,” she said. “Very happy and flattered that more people are following my dream.”
But how did she end up in a volleyball game? It turns out, she was rooting for the Cool Smashers.
"I have to say medyo I’m leaning to Creamline kasi PT (physical therapist) ko is also the PT of Creamline,” she said, referring to “Kuya Haree.”
In the end, the Cool Smashers captured the season-ending championship behind an immaculate 15-0 season sweep.
Best believe Alex is on cloud nine, too, as her team of choice notched another title in what has been a dynastic run to say the least.
And, if the stars align, that Creamline magic might even rub off on the Filipina tennis sensation.
