Athletes tend to listen to rap, rock, and even dance music whenever they need to get hyped before a game. To get the adrenaline flowing, they need to hear lyrics that evoke confidence and aggressiveness, they need to hear beats that build up to a rapturous climax. But hey, as always, to each his or her own.
On Saturday, Creamline Cool Smashers superstar Alyssa Valdez shared her favorite pregame songs on her Instagram stories. American music icon Taylor Swift was a prominent figure on her playlist, which prompted The Phenom to issue a warning.
“The Eras Tour 2024, I’m ready for you,” posted the decorated outside hitter as she pointed to attending Swift’s best-selling concert tour.
Along with her confession regarding being a bona fide Swiftie, Valdez also made an appeal to her fans.
“Please don’t judge my pregame “pump-up” songs,” she wrote.
What was she worried about? Perhaps because all of her hype tunes are quite emo love songs, Valdez wasn’t too confident that many of her fans would be able to relate. Well, most likely, she’s wrong. Her top artists were Swift, Justin Bieber, Elijah Woods, Jamie Miller, and James Arthur. Kids love those pop stars. At Ly might’ve even gained an ally or two when she bared the playlist

For now, she should just keep on playing her favorite tunes. They seem to work anyway. Valdez even scored 14 points as Creamline defeated the Chery Tiggo Crossovers on Saturday to clinch a finals berth in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference.
The Cool Smashers now await the winner of the semis matchup between the Choco Mucho Flying Titans and the Cignal HD Spikers.
