The Creamline Cool Smashers needed to drop the opening set to remember who they are.

After that, the powerhouse Cool Smashers simply battered the Galeries Tower Highrisers on all fronts on their way to a 19-25, 25-16, 25-14, 25-13 win to conclude the elimination round of the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference.

Creamline will ride the crest of this immaculate 11-0 sweep of the elimination round before plunging into action anew in the semifinals on Thursday.

Jema Galanza said the team will rest early today before getting back on the drawing board again tomorrow in time for its first semifinal match against the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.

Galanza, who fired 12 points in Tuesday’s win, is expecting nothing less than a dogfight the rest of the way.

“Siyempre mage-expect na maganda magiging laro. Patayan na ‘to,” she said in the broadcast interview after the match.

“Ito na talaga ‘yung laban na para sa finals. Talagang paghahandaan namin. Pero magre-rest muna para sa training tomorrow.”

The last time these two teams met, the Cool Smashers snapped Chery Tiggo’s six-game winning streak on the day Galanza turned 27 years old. If that thrilling 25-22, 24-26, 25-20, 25-16 decision is any indication, their semifinal clash will be nothing short of epic.

And Galanza and company better be ready as the Crossovers are no pushovers, especially if they can take an early set the way the Highrisers did on Tuesday.

Game time is set at 4 p.m. at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
