Losing is tough for anyone. But it’s even tougher to process for competitive individuals, such as professional athletes.
That’s why having a strong character is important in sports. Of course, having a solid support system helps a lot as well. Thankfully for the Akari Chargers, their star Faith Nisperos seems well-equipped to deal with the challenges that come with being a professional spiker.
On Monday, Nisperos went on Instagram to reflect on her debut season in the PVL, which concluded with the Chargers’ seventh-place finish in the Second All-Filipino Conference.
Looking to motivate herself even more, she sought strength from a Bible passage: 1 John 5:4.
“I am born of God and therefore, I can overcome whatever the devil puts in my path. My destiny is to overcome, to bounce back,” the passage reads.
Nisperos was one of the main reasons why Akari performed impressively throughout the conference. One could argue that the team's finish didn't truly reflect how the Chargers played.
The former Ateneo Blue Eagles star has a lot to look forward to, as she continues her journey with Akari, and clearly, she's ready to take the next step forward.
Faith made her PVL debut in the Invitational Conference, where Akari finished 10th overall. Ending up in 7th place this time around is a laudable improvement for the squad.

The addition of Fifi Sharma has also reinvigorated the Chargers. With her and Nisperos at the forefront, the team truly has a bright future ahead.
Can we get an amen?
