The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers needed Jolina dela Cruz and Ivy Lacsina to be at their best to repulse the winless Farm Fresh Foxies, 28-26, 20-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-8, in the PVL 2nd All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday.

Coach Regine Diego, whose team was pushed to its limit by the 0-7 Foxies, said it was an important learning experience for the young F2 team as the conference progresses.

“Maganda siya kasi at least nare-realize nila how it is pag nagsasayang ng points. They need more guidance kasi they’re younger. It’s part of growing up dito sa pros,” Diego said after the match at the Philsports Arena.

Leading the charge for the Cargo Movers were dela Cruz and Lacsina, who combined for 54 points as F2 Logistics rose to a 3-2 win-loss record.

Asked about her 27-point explosion, dela Cruz kept it really simple.

“Hindi ko naman po ine-expect ‘yung ganung scoring. Hindi ko naman siya nagagawa dati,” said the former La Salle Lady Spiker, who also had 10 digs and the same number of excellent receptions.

The Cargo Movers simply refused to fold against the Foxies, whose lineup includes some of dela Cruz' collegiate rivals like Trisha Tubu, who previously starred for the Adamson Lady Falcons in her lone season there. Incidentally, she went supernova in this game, finishing with a career-high 30 points.

While dela Cruz had an all-around game, Lacsina turned it up in the deciding set and engaged Tubu in a duel. But Lacsina would end up getting the last laugh after scoring off a combination play to seal the victory.

“Sabi namin ni Ivy, hindi kami pwede matalo kanina kasi nakalaban namin sila nung college. Alam din namin pano gumalaw kalaban,” dela Cruz said.

The Cargo Movers expect to use their learnings from this thrilling match when they take on the Gerflor Defenders on Thursday. The Foxies, on the other hand, will go for their first win on November 14 against another winless team in the Gerflor Defenders.
