Jovelyn Gonzaga is more than just a volleyball player.
Aside from being a member of the Philippine Army, Gonzaga continues to show her selfless side as she celebrates her 32nd birthday.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Gonzaga shared photos of her recent outreach mission with her friends during her special day.
For Gonzaga, this is something she’d rather be doing than having a party.
“I’d rather celebrate my birthday this way than having a party,” Gonzaga wrote in her post. “Iba ang way natin ng pagtulong and pag-celebrate. It’s just so fulfilling for me.”
This marks the third year in a row that the Cignal HD Spikers star decided to spend her special day helping out those in need.
Of course, Gonzaga couldn’t have done this without her friends, who helped her out in making sure that this event pushed through.
“Thankful for my kumares for the thought and effort na i-surprise ako even I am under the weather and alam nila na mahirap ako i-surprise but they make a way,” said Gonzaga. “Ako nakaisip pero sila talaga 'yung utak ang galamay.”
As she continues to make a mark not just in volleyball but also with the people around her, the Bionic Ilongga also shared some of her learnings in life—many of which we can take to heart.
“Don’t be too hard on yourself, those lessons in life baunin natin and move foward. Shake it off kagad, 'yung akala mo 'di mo malalagpasan two years ago, a year ago, last month, last week, two days ago, ngayon nginingitian mo na lang,” said Gonzaga.
“‘Wag masyado isipin ang problema problema na ‘yan, isipin natin ang solusyon, malawak ‘yan. Kaya live your life with a purpose, take note, we only die once we live every day,” she added.
