Aduke Ogunsanya will make a much-awaited return at the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference after sitting out for more than a year due to a torn ACL on her right knee.

The Choco Mucho Flying Titans middle blocker suffered the injury in July 2022 and hasn’t seen action since.

“This is my first tournament after my ACL injury. I’m just optimistic and trusting the process kung ano bang magiging kondisyon ng tuhod ko,” Ogunsanya told One Sports.

Ogunsanya is eager to erase bad memories of her injury as she aims to help the Flying Titans reach their first-ever podium finish in the PVL.

“Ayoko sanang makita nila na weakness ‘yung naging injury ko. I want to get back 100%. I’m really dying to excel kung ano napakita ko sa volleyball journey ko. It doesn’t stop there sa injury. Looking forward, sana magawa ko ine-expect ng coaches.”

More than the physical recovery, Ogunsanya admitted that she had a hard time with the mental aspect of recovery.

“‘Yung mental struggle na na-experience ko with my injury, hindi siya biro.”

As she slowly but surely overcame that mental struggle, Ogunsanya has these kind words for those who suffered the same fate as her.

“I want others to know that our journey is a process. Iba-iba tayo ng journey, but I want other people na kakayanin as kong as mag-persevere and optimistic with what you want.”

Ogunsanya and Choco Mucho will be tested early in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference as they face sister team and defending champions Creamline Cool Smashers for their opener later today.
