She just can’t stay away from doing the thing she loves the most.
Not a few were surprised when Pia Ildefonso announced she was joining new PVL team Farm Fresh Foxies in the upcoming PVL Invitational.
Count her brothers Shaun and Dave among them.
“Gulat na gulat sila siyempre. Sinabi ni Shaun sa 'kin, 'Are you sure?'” said Ildefonso in Tuesday’s episode of The Game by One Sports.
It was understandable.
The 20-year-old daughter of PBA legend Danny sat out UAAP Season 85. But in true Ildefonso fashion, she bared she has never stopped getting in shape.
“I didn’t have a break. I still played beach volleyball. Of course, tuloy-tuloy pa rin ['yung] strength and conditioning,” she said.
“I never had the urge to completely stop to play. For me, that’s such a hard thing to do, especially ‘yung routine mo is day to night and parang it’s not that easy to stay away.”
Ildefonso had no profound reason for skipping last season’s UAAP. She just knew it was time to go pro.
Her family, including her siblings, is giving her full support in this new challenge as a volleyball player.
“For me, at this point of my life, I just wanna go for it and deal with it and do what I love the most,” Ildefonso said.
“I set my mind to think na ‘Hayaan mo na, gawin mo na lang,’ no expectations na lang. Full support naman sila as always.
Things won't be easy for the young volleybelle, especially after nearly a year off from the game. But with the support of her family, there's reason to believe Ildefonso will rise to the challenge.
