Chery Tiggo teases new recruits on Instagram, sets social media ablaze
PVL

The Chery Tiggo Crossovers have fallen on hard times after winning the PVL Open championship in 2021. Since then, they have missed the semifinals of three of the last four tournaments, including this year’s PVL All-Filipino Conference, where they finished fifth overall.

Chery Tiggo’s fortunes, however, might change. And the team can change as soon as next conference after it retooled during the offseason in preparation for the PVL Invitational Conference, which is set to begin on June 29.

And, from the looks of it, the Crossovers aren’t messing around, as they will be adding not one, not two, not three but five new players.

The team has not formally announced its new recruits, but it did tease fans on Instagram by posting this image:

Naturally, the post sent fans buzzing—and speculating as to who will next wear Chery Tiggo’s red and white uniforms.

Most fans believe Eya Laure of the UST Golden Tigresses is the centerpiece of Chery Tiggo’s mammoth offseason haul, with @molaliiity_ commenting on the post, “Very eya naman yung nasa gitna!!!!”

Another commenter, @_albautista_, went a step further and identified the fabulous five as thus: Laure and Imee Hernandez, who are both from UST, and the trio of Princess Anne Robles, Joyme Cagande, and Jen Nierva from NU.

Philippine volleyball Twitterverse was also ablaze with speculations, and quite a few also tagged Laure, Hernandez, Robles, Cagande, and Nierva as the new breed of Crossovers.

There is no official word yet as to when Chery Tiggo will formally introduce its recruits. But if the rumor mill on social media proves true, then the Crossovers could very well be championship material next conference—and maybe beyond.
