Her addition is a huge boost for the Chargers.
No, it’s not an indication of how the Akari Chargers will fare in the upcoming PVL Invitational.
But seeing Faith Nisperos in an Akari uniform gave fans something to be excited about when the league resumes.
On Wednesday, the former Ateneo Blue Eagles star posted an Instagram Story of her sporting Akari’s colors after practice at the Filoi EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Ateneo, which had a disappointing 4-10 record in the recently-concluded UAAP Season 85 women's volleyball tournament, announced last May 9 that the skipper will leave the Eagles nest to turn pro after concluding her studies.
“We fully believe that Faith will continue to inspire volleyball athletes and fans in Ateneo and beyond in the years to come,” said Ateneo in a statement.
The 23-year-old Nisperos will join the Chargers, who are looking to improve on a 2-6 finish in the PVL All-Filipino Conference.
“I chose to go to Akari for several reasons. Of course, number one, I worked well with the coach. Coach Jorge [de Brito] and I have worked together in 2021 when I was part of the national team,” said Nisperos in an article on the league’s website.
