He knew exactly what to say when he was asked for his preferred finals foe.
Based on the scores alone, it appears as if the Creamline Cool Smashers have made light work of the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in the semifinals of the PVL All-Filipino Conference. Their prize for winning the series in two games? It’s four days of rest while waiting for their opponent in the championship match. The Cool Smashers will face the winner between the Petro Gazz Angels and the PLDT High Speed Hitters on Thursday.
After dispatching F2 in dominant fashion, Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses was asked in the postgame presser about their potential finals matchup against either PLDT or Petro Gazz.
When he was egged on to comment about facing the Rald Ricafort-mentored squad on Sunday, his reply was directed more towards his own team more than anywhere else.
“Kasi sa’min naman, palagi naming inuuna ‘yung routine ng training namin. Kahit sino ‘yung makalaban namin, basta [ang] number one, gagawin namin ‘yung routine namin sa training, magawa namin sa game, hindi namin makalimutan.”
“Wala ako masabi kung PLDT or Petro [Gazz}. ‘Pag mayroon na, tsaka namin pag-aaralan muna,” Meneses added.
Pressed about the possibility of facing the Angels once again in the All-Filipino Conference finale, the Cool Smashers’ chief tactician got a little cheerful and gave a more concrete response.
“Matchup ng mga seniors,” Meneses quipped.
“Magandang laban kasi palagi nagtatapat ‘yan. Kung saka-sakali, sa akin, pangatlong finals na na makakalaban. Pero hindi pa natin masabi kasi may isang game pa sila. Good luck na lang sa kanila,” he continued.
Game 1 of the Finals is set to go down Sunday. If you were to choose, who would you rather see Creamline go up against in the title match?
