The Petro Gazz Angels moved one win away from making it to the PVL All-Filipino Conference Finals after beating the PLDT High Speed Hitters in Game 1 of their semis matchup.

Leading the way for the Angels was Jonah Sabete, who tallied a magnificent stat line of 18 points on 14 attacks, 3 blocks, and an ace.

The talented outside hitter, however, was not exactly impressed with her performance. According to Sabete, her timing was still a bit off, and she was not able to execute things exactly like she was doing during practice.

“Actually, hindi pa ako masiyadong nakikita ‘yung sarili ko na, kasi iba sa training. Parang sa game, iba rin ako. Parang nakukulangan pa ako sa sarili ko talaga,” Sabete admitted.

Despite her fantastic output, Sabete vowed to keep working on her game to make up for her self-professed shortcomings.

“’Yung timing ko wala pa talaga, 'di ko makita. Siguro yun na talaga rin ‘yung kailangan kong trabahuhin . . . So, yun lang ang mindset ko, timing tsaka trabaho."

If Sabete plays even better in Game 2 and Petro Gazz gets solid outings from their old reliables, then a sweep appears within reach. Among the Angels looking to step up again are MJ Philipps, Remy Palma, Aiza Manzo-Pontillas, and Grethcel Soltones, who scored 17, 14, 13, and 10, respectively, in Petro Gazz's Game 1 victory.

Expect the High Speed Hitters, though, to do everything they can to live another day.

Game 2 of the Petro Gazz vs. PLDT semis showdown is scheduled on Tuesday at the MOA Arena in Pasay City.
