Multi-titled Aiza Maizo-Pontillas is already a local legend. But it seems some "fans" have been oblivious of her stardom.

Not Lady Beast Grethcel Soltones though, who came to the defense of Maizo-Pontillas on Twitter.

"Iilan lang kasi kilala niyo," Soltones said in a quote tweet. She was responding to a screenshot that said, "Sikat pala si nang Aiza (Maizo-Pontillas). Malakas na spiker... pero 'di siya sikat."

Soltones also proudly said, "Basta ako idol ko 'to simula nung nasa sinapupunan pa ako ng nanay ko."

Of course, Soltones didn't mean it literally. But looking back, the Lady Beast would have been in elementary up to high school during the heydays of Maizo-Pontillas with the UST Golden Tigresses.

Maizo-Pontillas led UST to two UAAP Women's Volleyball titles and three Shakey's V-League golds. The lefty opposite hitter also made history as the first Filipina to win both the finals and season MVP in a single Shakey's V-League conference twice.

Those glory years might have been one of the inspirations of Soltones that propelled her to Lady Beast status with the San Sebastian Lady Stags. The heavy hitter was named NCAA Most Valuable Player for three consecutive years in Season 90, 91, and 92.

Now, the 27-year-old Soltones can admire the 35-year-old Maizo-Pontillas up close. The two stars are now teammates in Petro Gazz Angels, and have a shot to win the title together in the PVL All-Filipino conference.
