New NLEX Road Warriors import Wayne Selden has big shoes to fill.

Selden is coming in to replace the prolific Jonathon Simmons, who led the Road Warriors to an immaculate 4-0 slate in the PBA Governors’ Cup.

But like Simmons, Selden also has a beefed up credentials highlighted by his NBA stints with teams like the New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies.

The Kansas alumnus arrived on Saturday night, hours after NLEX picked up their fourth victory at the expense of Phoenix Fuel Masters, 98-94.

Selden, fresh from a tour of duty in Turkey, is looking good so far for the Road Warriors, though.

“OK naman siya. Professional din,” said a source, who added the NBA veteran officially joined the team practice on Monday.

His mettle will be tested when NLEX tackles reigning champions Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Gin Kings on Wednesday. Game is set at 5:45pm at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

It’s too early to tell, but the Road Warriors are hoping they can sustain the run with Selden on board.

“Mahirap pa sabihin sa ngayon,” said the same source when asked if the new import can fill the huge void left by Simmons.
