It appears NBA veteran Jonathon Simmons will be a go for NLEX.
The Jonathon Simmons saga appears to be over — with a happy ending for the NLEX Road Warriors.
Simmons, whose stint in the PBA seemed doubtful up until yesterday, will reportedly be playing for the Road Warriors after all. This comes after he secured clearance from the Shanxi Loongs, his former team at the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).
PBA.ph and various sports media outlets, including One Sports, reported previously that Simmons won’t be playing in the PBA due to his clearance issues, as well as Shanxi’s standing offer for the NBA veteran to stay in the CBA.
It appears now that all is well between Simmons and the Road Warriors, and that the former’s much anticipated stint in Asia’s first pro basketball league will, indeed, push through. A source confirmed this latest development to OneSports.ph, which would bode well for an NLEX team looking to finish Season 47 with a bang.
Simmons has NBA career averages of 8.3 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in four seasons with the San Antonio Spurs., Orlando Magic, and Philadelphia 76ers.
