Japeth the Drummer: Aguilar shows off musical side during PBA break

Japeth the Drummer: Aguilar shows off musical side during PBA break

Fresh off the Commissioner’s Cup championship, Barangay Ginebra is still on break even if the season’s final conference, Governors’ Cup, has already started.

The PBA has made a practice of modifying its calendar to align with Gilas Pilpinas’ international duties, and to grant rest for playoff teams — including the champs, of course — who went into deep runs the previous conference.

And Japeth Aguilar seems to be making the most of that rest.

In an Instagram story, the Gin Kings big man was seen playing drums with a band. Musician Aaron Lara took and uploaded the video, before Aguilar shared it on his own timeline.

The video captured the Ateneo alum with a little smile as he was pounding the percussion instrument to the tune of the 90s hit song Creep, by English rock band Radiohead.

And from the looks of it, Japeth is no beginner in playing the drums.

While he may not have shown this side of him as much, a look at his Instagram led us to discover two old photos that showed a hint that he's into drumming.

Below you can see Japeth holding drumsticks while posing for a photo with a friend back in 2015.

And his first-ever Instagram post was actually a photo of him playing the drums.

Team NSD won’t see their favorite squad until February 5, but right now, Ginebra fans can take solace that their favorite players are resting well, whether it's travelling overseas or just chilling behind the drumset like Japeth.
