A cool nickname, an MVP trophy, and a farewell title are some of the things that made our Christmas gift guide.
Christmas time is here and like any normal person, PBA players would love to receive useful and well-thought-out gifts this yuletide season. Putting that into consideration, we took it upon ourselves to list down the nicest and most apt presents for some of our hardwood heroes.

Scottie Thompson - a cool nickname
Scottie Thompson is the reigning PBA MVP. He’s won several championships. Plus, he’s been looking good in a Gilas uniform as well. What he doesn’t have though, is a nickname befitting of his tremendous game. If it were up to us, since he can do great things on the court, his moniker would be Great Scott.
Jayson Castro - an MVP season
We would love to see the look on Jayson Castro’s face when he unboxes his Christmas gift and sees the PBA’s 48th season MVP trophy with his name on it. At this point of the Blur’s career, winning the league’s top individual honor is tougher than ever. But, given the PBA’s two conference-season in 2023—to give way to the FIBA World Cup—and perhaps one last great campaign in Castro’s tank, he might pull it off for the first time in his legendary career.
Asi Taulava - one last title
Asi Taulava has been playing in the PBA since the 90s. Sooner or later the 2003 MVP would have to call it quits. So, what better way to go out than to win one last championship. To see it happen in the upcoming Governor’s Cup would be a perfect final chapter for the 49-year-old’s basketball journey, especially if we see Asi partying to the 1997 one-hit wonder Tubthumping by Chumbawamba.

Terrence Romeo - good health
Whether you’re a Terrence Romeo fan or not, you’ve got to admit that at his best, he elevates the PBA’s wow factor through the roof. His crossover moves are just meant to go viral. That’s why he was sorely missed when he got sidelined for 8 months due to back problems. Clearly, the best gift to give the Bro is an injury-free career. We’re pretty sure this will also be appreciated by the fans who squint their eyes and say 'woooh' when they see Terrence’s highlights.
Meralco Bolts - first PBA championship
The Meralco Bolts made their PBA debut in 2010. Since then, they made four finals appearances and lost all of them to Ginebra. Two of which in heartbreaking fashion, no thanks to Justin Brownlee’s game winner for the ages and the emergence of MVP Scottie Thompson. Meralco winning their first PBA title, especially if it’s against Team NSD, would make for one of the best stories in the PBA’s recent history.
Tyler Tio - consistency
We’re not saying Tyler Tio is inconsistent. All we want for the Rookie of the Year frontrunner is to keep on playing like a future superstar until he becomes one. As with any league, the PBA needs an influx of talent with the potential to become a marquee attraction. Who knows, in a year or two, Phoenix’s bright young star might just become the face of the PBA.
Terrafirma, Blackwater - breakout campaigns
We would love to see these two squads make the finals and silence their critics. For that to happen, management decisions must be drastically improved.

Justin Brownlee - tour of the Philippines
Since Justin Brownlee’s naturalization process is nearly complete, the best gift to give him at this time is a tour of the entire Philippines. Not only is it a great Christmas treat, it’s also a great way to welcome JB’s presumptive Filipino citizenship. From Batanes to the Dinagat Islands, we’d love for JB to enjoy all the tourist spots, try out all the delicacies and soak it all in as he officially becomes our kababayan.
