Rain or Shine is going with Jaylen Johnson as its PBA Commissioner's Cup import. Johnson is a former Louisville teammate of Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell.
Rain or Shine is looking to add some firepower for next the upcoming PBA Commissioners’ Cup, tapping the services of 30-year-old American Jaylen Johnson as import.
The Elasto Painters made the announcement official on Tuesday, February 10, to become the latest team to unveil their reinforcement for the import-laden tournament.
Johnson, a product of the University of Louisville, spent two collegiate seasons alongside Cleveland Cavaliers star and seven-time All-Star Donovan Mitchell.
His professional journey include stints in Israel, Turkey, Lebanon, Uruguay, and Taiwan, before most recently suiting up in South Korea’s KBL team in the Goyang Sono Skygunners.
In the KBL, Johnson played alongside Gilas Pilipinas standout Kevin Quiambao.
Though his 2026 season saw him appear in 35 games, he played sparingly, averaging 8.9 minutes, 3.7 points, and 2.9 rebounds per outing.
But Rain or Shine is banking on Johnson’s experience and versatility to give the team a lift as the Elasto Painters aim to rebound from a quarterfinal exit in the Philippine Cup.
