Calvin Abueva joins a young Converge core looking to break through starting in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup.
Calvin Abueva is out to prove age will not slow him down as he joins Converge for the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup.
In his first practice with his new team since being traded from Titan Ultra, Abueva made it clear to his team in a huddle.

“Mga bata pa tayo. Ako bata pa ako, 38, pero sasabay ako sa inyo,” said Abueva in a post by the FiberXers on Facebook.
Calvin turned 38-years-old a day after being shipped for Rey Suerte, King Caralipio, and Mark Omega.
With the FiberXers, Abueva becomes the veteran presence to help anchor the likes of Juan Gomez de Liaño, Justine Baltazar, Alec Stockton, and Justin Arana.
With “The Beast” in tow, the FiberXers are hopeful to finally breach the semifinals for the first time since Converge acquired the Alaska franchise in 2022.
Though now in his 13th PBA season, there’s no doubt in Abueva’s mind he could be the missing piece for Converge to do just that.
“Madadala ko yung maturity and energy sa team. Kailangan ko ang tulong niyo, kailangan niyo ang tulong ko,” he said.
“Maniwala kayo sa akin at magka-isa tayo as a team. Bigay natin ang lahat.”

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.
He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
