Make it 13 teams in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup.

The league announced Friday, Feb. 6, the participation of the Macau Black Bears, making them the third foreign squad to compete in the import-laced conference set to unfurl on March 11.

The other two which previously joined were the Bay Area Dragons and the Hong Kong Eastern.

The PBA and the special guest team formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement on the same day, the league posted on its website.

Filipino fans are no stranger to the Black Bears, who are also playing in the East Asia Super League, where the Meralco Bolts are representing the PBA.

Macau also locked horns with Gilas Pilipinas in a send-off game, which the latter won, 103-98, before the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup.

Among the prominent cagers expected to bolster Macau in the PBA are 7-foot-5 behemoth Sam Deguara and Damian Chongqui.

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
