There’s nothing like being in a PBA Finals.

That’s exactly what Kevin Ferrer felt as he made his return to the biggest stage, this time as a member of TNT.

He last won a championship in the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup with Ginebra.

“Sobrang sarap sa pakiramdam kasi nakakamiss 'tong stage na 'to. Minsan lang 'to, lubusin na natin,” Ferrer said as his Tropang 5G fell to San Miguel, 92-111, in Game 2 Friday night, Jan. 23.

The 6-foot-4 winger is making the most of such an opportunity, which was hard to come by when he was still rocking the then NorthPort and Terrafirma threads from 2019 to 2025.

In fact, he was the silver lining in TNT's Game 2 setback.

He helped the Tropang 5G stay afloat in the fourth, knocking down back-to-back four-pointers midway in the frame to finish with 11 points. He also had three rebounds and an assist.

But the Beermen, who led by as many as 19 points in the first half, would not just allow any comeback as they leveled the best-of-seven series.

“Naunahan kami sa first half pa lang. Noong third quarter, tinray naming makahabol. Alam mo naman ang San Miguel, hindi naman basta-basta,” Ferrer said.

After delivering on both ends when the chips were down for TNT, Ferrer was asked if he expected to see more action moving forward.

“Depende na lang kay coach 'yon. Basta't ready lang ako lagi kung kailan ako tawagin,” Ferrer said.

Game 3 is set Sunday, Jan. 25, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, with the Tropang 5G looking to regain the lead.

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
