The Giant Risers (1–4) are desperate for a breakthrough after a gut-wrenching 111–112 loss to Rain or Shine.

Titan Ultra looked poised to pull off an upset behind Abueva’s monstrous performance — 31 points, 18 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block — before the Elasto Painters stole the win behind Anton Asistio’s clutch free throws in the final seconds.

Abueva found solid support from Aljun Melecio, who fired 21 points, while Joshua Munzon came close to a triple-double with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists.

Now the team expects added energy from newly acquired forward Aris Dionisio, who will make his debut after being traded from Magnolia for rookie Chris Koon.

Titan Ultra now hopes to regroup and finally convert its effort into wins as it faces another struggling side in Blackwater (1–3), which has lost three straight games — the latest, a 99–88 defeat to NLEX.

With Abueva in top form and Dionisio’s arrival bolstering their defense, the Giant Risers are determined to turn their fortunes around and get back on track.
