Converge started strong then weathered a stronger fightback from Phoenix from there to essay a 128-114 win in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo Saturday, Oct. 25.
The FiberXers opened up 29-11 lead in the first period then hung tough from there to notch back-to-back wins for a 3-1 mark.
They thus forced a three-way logjam at first spot together with TNT and Magnolia.
Meanwhile, the Fuel Masters ran out of gas for the second straight time and fell to a 1-3 slare.
Converge will be put to a tougher test as it is set to square off against defending champion San Miguel on Nov. 2.
The match starts at 5:15 p.m. at the same venue.
