Ginebra made the move to ship Maverick Ahanmisi and Aljon Mariano to Terrafirma hours before the Gin Kings take on TNT in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup.
Maverick Ahanmisi’s wish is finally granted.
Just days after revealing he asked Ginebra governor Alfracnis Chua for a trade, Ahanmisi saw himself shipped to the Terrafirma Dyip.
Approved by the PBA on Wednesday, October 15, the full trade details include Terrafirma also getting Aljon Marian. The Gin Kings, for their part, get the Dyip’s first round pick for PBA Season 51.
After signing with Ginebra as a free agent in 2023, Ahanmisi gradually saw his playing time dip in a stacked guard rotation featuring former MVP Scottie Thompson and then top playmaker LA Tenorio.
At Terrafirma, Maverick will now join his younger brother, Jerrick, who is emerging as one of the Dyip’s top scorers in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup after seeing limited minutes with Magnolia.
Mariano, meanwhile, will only join his second PBA team as the former UST standout was drafted 16th overall by Ginebra in 2015.
Mariano won seven titles in his time with the Gin Kings.
