TItan Ultra Giant Risers governor Emil Tiu appeared before the members of the press for the first time during the PBA pre-season press conference to preview his team before their PBA 50 debut.
The Titan Ultra Giant Risers drew mixed reactions when they were introduced as the PBA’s newest team ahead of the league’s 50th season.
From a fan perspective, It was understandable.
After all, the Pureblends franchise, acquired from NorthPort, is carrying the name of a new product — a male dietary supplement.
Titan Ultra team governor Emil Tiu said they were aware of that concern, but nonetheless saw this as a golden opportunity to introduce the product to the market.

“We are concerned, but actually we feel at first it should not be on this event. But with the impact of PBA 50 years, who knows, we can benefit [from it],” Tiu told reporters during the PBA pre-season press conference.
“The first idea is to use the old products but it is already in the market. Kilala na eh. So maybe this might be helpful for everybody, so yan ang observation namin.”
More than the name, what matters more for the Giant Risers now is putting up a competitive team in the PBA’s golden season.
“This is our first year. As I say, we still have around veterans who can help and guide our rookies. We are lucky to acquire some veteran players from other teams,” Tiu said.
“With that young group our veterans are still young so our goal, style is have a run and gun, depensa. We have lots of shooters.”
