Don’t be surprised to see LA Tenorio donning the Magnolia jersey in the future.

That’s because Tenorio is open to becoming a playing-coach for the Magnolia Hotshots, the new mentor told reporters on Friday, September 26.

In fact, Tenorio is in Magnolia’s injury list.

“My rights is with Magnolia now. I saw the final lineup we submitted the other day, I’m in the injury list. I have a chance,” Tenorio told reporters during the PBA Media Day.

Tenorio joined the team in practice before heading to Etron Centris for the Media Day, where the 41-year-old showed his wards he still has a lot left in the tank.

“Kanina sumali ako sa practice. From time to time sumasali akong practice. You never know,” he said.

But it’s not going to be simple for Tenorio.

In its 50 years, the league has only seen three to pull off the job of a player-coach, among them was Ginebra legend Sonny Jaworski.

“Its gonna be a hard decision for me also kasi syempre nagco-coach ako at the same time naglalaro ako. I think one person can only do that, and it’s coach Sonny. Syempre high respect tayo dyan,” he said.

But if the opportunity arises, Tenorio has no other recourse but to embrace the challenge.

“So we’ll see. It depends on the management. But for now I’m not focused on that,” he said.

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
