Juan Gomez de Liaño is weighing his options career-wise after multiple stints abroad, most recently playing in the Korean Basketball League with the Seoul SK Knights.

Though his SK Knights reached the Finals of the 2024-25 season against eventual champions Carl Tamayo and Changwon LG Sakers, minutes were hard to come by for the former UAAP Rookie of the Year.

As he tries to decide where basketball will bring him next, the younger Gomez de Liaño said he is keeping himself on his toes whenever opportunity comes knocking in the coming months — including the PBA Draft.

“[I’m] not sure yet, honestly. Still weighing my options,” Gomez de Liaño told media at the sidelines of the Pilipinas United 3x3 League at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay on Sunday.

“But, you know, entering the PBA is definitely a possibility as well. I’ve been thinking about it, my family and I, whether you know that may be the best option for me but, as I said, yeah, I’m spending time with my family, staying in shape. So yun lang naman,” he added.

It can be recalled that his brother Javi is set for a return to the PBA, being traded to the Magnolia Hotshots from the Terrafirma Dyip. He previously played for the Anyang JKJ Red Boosters also in the KBL.

While the long term remains uncertain for Gomez de Liaño, he is happy to be back in basketball action — albeit in an exhibition capacity as he joined the Pilipinas United 3x3 League celebrity game with the likes of La Salle guard Kean Baclaan, and social media personality Malupiton.

Having played 3x3 since his junior days, Gomez de Liaño was happy to be coming home to Manila for basketball.

“Yeah, you know, it’s just nice to be here, to be a part of this event. The whole staff, organizers, it’s always fun to play 3x3 basketball, especially here in the Philippines, you know, everyone loves the game and the sport. I’m just happy to be here,” he said.

Before playing in Korea, Gomez de Liaño also had stops in Japan and Lithuania.
