Glenn Khobuntin is on the cusp of a PBA milestone.

TNT is about to play in a record-tying 75th game this season, when the Tropang 5G take on San Miguel in Game 6 of the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup Finals on Friday, July 24.

Only the bruising forward has seen action in all 74 previous games, which ties him with five other players, including TNT team manager Jojo Lastimosa back when he was with Alaska in 1995, according to PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon.

Other players at 74 games are Ato Agustin, Johnny Abarrientos, Danny Ildefonso, and Mike Mustre. Once Khobuntin plays in Game 6, the record is his alone.

It’s certainly blessing for Khobuntin, whose team is also gunning for a slice of history as the fifth team to achieve a PBA Grand Slam.

“Sobrang salamat kasi syempre minsan lang yung tuloy-tuloy ung laro eh. Blessing din 'yun. Hanggat kaya ko maglaro maglalaro pa rin,” he told reporters after TNT’s 86-78 win over San Miguel in Game 5.

Asked what his secret is for staying healthy all throughout the season where the Tropang 5G went to three Finals, the former UAAP champion with National University bared consistent workouts.

“Consistent lang sa workout. Yun lang pinakasikreto dun, kasi as a player kailangan mo yun,” he said.

“Hindi ka basta-basta mag-skip ng workouts especially bugbugan 'yung games diba? Ready lang muscles mo. Tamang pahinga rin talaga, walang labas labas.”

Will there be a bonus from the TNT management?

“Wala,” he said with a hearty laugh.

At this point, perhaps all Khobuntin wants is helping the Tropang 5G win a treble.

Game 6 of the PBA Philippine Cup finals will be at 7:30 p.m. at the PhilSports Arena. It will be aired live on PBA Rush, RPTV, and the Pilipinas Live app.
