PBA: San Miguel superstar June Mar Fajardo still BPC front-runner

Injured and all, June Mar Fajardo remains ahead of the Best Player of the Conference race.

Playing hurt throughout San Miguel's PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup semifinal series against Ginebra, Fajardo retained his place with 39.6 SPs (statistical points).

The 6-foot-10 behemoth normed 16.0 points, a league-best 13.95 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.1 blocks at the end of a grueling seven-game series against the Gin Kings.

Aside from the right calf injury he sustained in the opener, Fajardo also hurt his hamstring, but has since allayed fears about the severity of it.

Right behind him is NLEX’s Robert Bolick, who netted 36.6 SPs after averaging a league-leading 6.6 assists on top of 19.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.2 steals.

Rounding out the top five are Fajardo's teammate Cjay Perez (35.4 SPs), Phoenix's Jason Perkins (35.3 SPs) and Zavier Lucero of Magnolia (35.2 SPs).

The BPC award will be named before Game 4 of the ongoing Finals between SMB and TNT at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay Sunday, July 20.
