Just how serious is TNT about scoring a rare Grand Slam in PBA Season 49?

On Wednesday night, July 9, the Tropang 5G convened inside the PLDT board room to watch Game 7 of the Philippine Cup semifinals between San Miguel and Ginebra.

The Beermen emerged victorious, thanks in large part to two-thirds of the famed Death Five that dominated the league in the past decade.

Forty-year-old Chris Ross turned back the hands of time and turned in a vintage performance that saw him churn out 19 points, three rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

Though still bothered by calf and hamstring injuries, Fajardo produced a double-double of 21 points and 19 rebounds.

The eight-time Most Valuable Player also had three assists, a steal and two blocks.

The viewing succeeded a courtesy call with team owner Manny V. Pangilinan.

The Tropang 5G can complete the golden treble this season after also conquering the Governors’ and Commissioner’s Cups, respectively.

But coach Chot Reyes and the rest of the team insisted that they are not actually thinking about that.

“Believe it or not, I’m really not thinking about it. I’m just too focused on this game in front of us,” said Reyes after ousting Rain or Shine in Game 6 last Sunday, July 6.

Reyes and TNT kickstart the battle for the crown against the Beermen, the same team that denied them a Triple Crown in 2011, on Sunday, July 13, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.

Gametime is at 7:30 p.m.
