But he had to start somewhere. And this is the example he set for his son, Aaron.
The younger Black, who struts his stuff with the Meralco Bolts, was the willing recipient of lessons from his dad.
Norman retells his story to his son: he was not the most talented baller, but he made up for it with hard work.

One Sports: What’s the best advice that your father gave you?
Black: Whatever you're going to do in life, make sure you do it right. Work hard at it. Put the time needed for you to be successful in whatever that is, and whatever you put in, what you're going to get out of it.

OS: What is one trait of your father that you would like to emulate?
Black: I think, just working hard and making sure that, like I said, you put the time in necessary to be successful in whatever you do. He always told me that he wasn't the most talented guy, but at the same time, he put that work in to be able to bridge that gap from the guys that were talented.
