Mike Nieto joins TNT ahead of the 2025 PBA Philippine Cup Playoffs, aiming to contribute immediately and help the Tropang 5G achieve the historic Grand Slam.
The TNT Tropang 5G have added another steady hand to their rotation, signing Mike Nieto ahead of the 2025 PBA Philippine Cup Playoffs.
The 6-foot-2 guard officially joins the Tropang 5G after being released by the Converge FiberXers on Tuesday, wrapping up a productive one-year stint with the franchise.
Nieto was acquired by Converge from Rain or Shine in May 2023 in exchange for second-round picks in the 2024 and 2025 PBA Drafts.
Though a dislocated finger kept him out of the current Philippine Cup, Nieto had been a consistent presence in the FiberXers’ lineup—first under Aldin Ayo and then under Charles Tiu.
Now, the former Ateneo Blue Eagles standout looks to bring that same grit and experience to a TNT squad searching for stability in the backcourt.
“Really grateful for this opportunity to play for TNT this conference,” Nieto told One Sports. “Will do everything para mabawi ‘yung tiwala na binigay nila sa akin.”
With Jayson Castro, Rey Nambatac, and Jielo Razon all dealing with injuries, Nieto’s arrival comes at a crucial time. He will also be reunited with Jordan Heading, who was recently traded to TNT in the deal that sent Mikey Williams’ rights to Converge.

Nieto expressed his appreciation for his former team.
“Really learned a lot in Converge. Will forever cherish the time that I had there and I’m really grateful sa lahat ng naibigay na tulong nila Boss Dennis [Uy], Gov. Delta [Pineda], Gov. Archen [Cayabyab], Boss Frank, and Boss Jacob [Lao] sa akin.”
As TNT continues to shore up its roster for a deep playoff run, Nieto is focused on making the most of this fresh start.
“We’re really excited and we promise to give our best every practice and every game para makatulong kami sa TNT in a positive way.”
