Something lit up for Javee Mocon since signing a contract extension with NLEX.

What followed it were some of his best games yet in a Road Warriors uniform, including a 23-point performance in the squad's 105-95 ousting of Phoenix in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup Sunday, June 1.

Mocon, who also had nine rebounds in a near double-double outing he topped with three assists, admitted that the new one-year deal proved to be added motivation for him.

“Malaking blessing nga, lalo na't I just signed with NLEX pa, [which is a] really generous team on and off the court. So it’s added motivation for me lalo na up against a former team,” said the former San Beda star, whose squad improved its chances of finishing in the top 4 with a 7-2 mark.

The Road Warriors jumped to a hot start, then sputtered in the middle but finished strong behind Mocon’s explosion in the fourth period.

He dropped 14 points in the payoff quarter, including a long two with three minutes and twenty-eight seconds that gave NLEX a 100-89 lead.

There was nothing the Fuel Masters could do after that as they bowed out of contention with a 2-7 record.

Robert Bolick also had a stellar game with 20 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and a block. JB Bahio put up 15 markers, five boards and two assists, while Tony Semerad and Xyrus Torres scored 14 and 13, respectively.
