The Magnolia Hotshots aim to keep their perfect record intact as they return to action against defending champion Meralco Bolts in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup on Wednesday, May 14.

The main match begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

At 5-0, Magnolia has been flawless so far in the All-Filipino conference and will look to continue that streak against a fatigued Meralco side that’s playing its third game in six days. While the Bolts are coming off a draining 84-101 loss to TNT, the Hotshots are well-rested—perhaps too rested.

Magnolia hasn’t played since May 4, when it delivered a 127-94 demolition of Terrafirma. It was a balanced and dominant performance where every Hotshot made a field goal, led by Zavier Lucero, who tallied 17 points and nine rebounds.

With fresh legs and a well-oiled machine behind them, the Hotshots will look to pounce on a Meralco team trying to shake off fatigue and regroup. But after a 10-day layoff, timing and rhythm may be factors Magnolia needs to shake off early if it wants to stay unbeaten in the conference.
