Alaska Aces great Sean Chambers isn’t about to hope against greatness should Justin Brownlee lead Brgy. Ginebra to another championship in the ongoing PBA Governors' Cup Finals.

That is, another title for Brownlee would break the tie between him and the FEU head coach for the most championships won by an import in the PBA. Currently, JB and Chambers are tied at six titles apiece.

But regardless of what transpires in the seven-game title series between Ginebra and TNT, which the Tropang Giga currently lead at 1-0, Chambers hailed Brownlee among the best of the best to ever play in Asia’s oldest professional basketball league.

“I think Brownlee’s the best player to ever play in this league. Him and Bobby Parks [Sr.] are the two best imports so, wishing him and everybody the best. Although, Rondae [Hollis-Jefferson]’s pretty darn good too, though, so I think it’s gonna be an exciting series,” coach Chambers told One Sports.

Not only does Chambers know Brownlee as every other basketball fan in the country does, but he’s also handled the 36-year-old as a coach during his time with Gilas Pilipinas.

As one of the national team’s naturalized players, Chambers said that Brownlee is everything that people think he is — that is, a very coachable guy.

“Justin’s very light, very humble, everything that you hear about Justin, just an all-around great guy,” said the 59-year-old, who is coaching his first season in the UAAP.

“He’s all about team first, him second, he’s at the mode of Bobby, Norman Black, and myself type of guy," Chambers added.

Even if he’s looking forward to see the matchup between Brownlee’s Ginebra and Hollis-Jefferson’s Tropang Giga in the Governors' Cup Finals, Chambers didn’t go as far as making a prediction.

Rather, he’s simply thrilled to see the action unfold in what entails to be a very competitive series.

“I don’t know. You know, [Jojo Lastimosa] is my best friend and Tim Cone’s on the other side. So I’m just gonna watch the game, I’m not gonna make a prediction,” said Chambers.

The PBA Governors’ Cup Finals continues on Wednesday, October 30, with Brownlee and the Gin Kings looking for an equalizer.
