NLEX is getting the move on with its offseason plans.
The Road Warriors announced that they have signed guard Matt Nieto to a fresh two-year extension, fortifying their backcourt rotation.
“Siyempre masaya ako na binigyan ako ng extension ng NLEX. Dito na ako lumaki at nag-mature sa team na ‘to,” said Nieto, who was selected by the team during the special Gilas round of the 2019 PBA Draft.
“Nagpapasalamat ako sa tiwala nina President Luigi (Bautista), Gov. Ronald (Dulatre), at sa coaches ko. Talagang mas babawi at susuklian ko yung tiwala nila sa akin,” he added.
In the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup, Nieto appeared in 11 games and averaged 5.7 points and 3.1 assists for NLEX.
He went form 5.1 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in the Commissioner’s Cup.
Nieto provides stability and depth at point guard for the Road Warriors, who already have Robert Bolick, Baser Amer, and should welcome Kevin Alas back from injury.
“Siyempre mas gutom kami ngayon. Pagtratrabahuan namin itong off-season na ‘to with the goal na mas maganda ang maging standing namin and position next conference," said Nieto.
“Step up talaga kaming lahat since mas alam na namin ang bawat role and strength ng bawa’t isa sa team,” he added.
