“Ibenta na ‘yan kay Boss Toyo! ”

This is the common response of Filipino social media users nowadays whenever they encounter a person, whether a celebrity, an athlete, a politician, or even just a regular joe, who possesses rare memorabilia.

Boss Toyo is a YouTube content creator who stars in the Pinoy Pawnstars, a reality show that features their interaction with a variety of customers who sell their valuable items and share the historical back stories behind them.

In his YouTube vlog, Boss Toyo was dumbfounded when the great William “Bogs” Adornado visited the Pinoy Pawnstar.

Bogs Adornado is one of the pioneers of the local basketball industry. Long before the PBA was born, Bogs had already been making his name for Crispa in the old Manila Industrial and Commercial Athletic Association (MICAA).

His basketball legacy is immaculate, as Adornado was the first PBA Most Valuable Player. He's also the first to win the award three times (1975, 1976, and 1981) and was named one of the PBA's 25 Greatest Players.

The PBA legend, along with his friend and collector, Bobit Ples, visited the Pinoy Pawnstars to sell some of his memorabilia from his basketball career.

The haul includes his game-worn and signed jersey from the national team, his Crispa Redmanizers warmer, his 25th anniversary PBA jacket, his PBA TM jersey, shorts, and two signed Grosby rubber shoes.

“Alam niyo, mahawakan ko lang ‘to, malaking privilege na,” said Boss Toyo.

But the golden question here is: how much?

Bobit Ples was selling this commemorative treasure for P2 million.

After their fun negotiation, Bobit and Boss Toyo agreed on the price of P1.3 million.

The Filipino fans online grappled with nostalgia and experienced chills while watching the sale of Bog’s cherished memorabilia.

“Sa lahat ng nabili ni Boss Toyo, eto ang pinaka worth it sa lahat for me. Dahil preservation pa lang ng mga jersey at yung sapatos na Grosby, well-preserved talaga. Tinalo pa‘ yong National Museum sa pag-reserved at pag-alaga. Two thumbs up for Mr. Bogs Adornado. Isang malaking saludo! ,” said fan Ram Villamayor.

“Sa panahon namin, kung paguusapan ang PBA Basketball, iisang pangalan sa bawat player like Bogs Adornado ang may titulo ng "Filipino Greatest Player!" History na yan. Unforgettable! Salamat, Pinoy Pawnstar!” fan June Maniquis added.

Other Pinoy basketball hoopers have also said that this is considered a “holy grail” for the Philippine basketball industry.

“Boss Toyo, that's one to be considered the Holy Grail! ‘Yong history, ‘yong galing at ‘yong preservation ng mga items, Sir Bogs Adornado says it all as a legend with his signature at this time of year. Super worth it!! Salute to you!" said fan Rose de Dios.

Bogs Adornado also thanked his friend, Bobit, for preserving his memorabilia.

“Gusto ko ring pasalamatan ‘tong kumpare ko [Bobit Ples] for preserving the materials.“

The memorabilia may have a price tag on this particular episode of Pinoy Pawnstars, but the contributions of Bogs Adornado to the Philippine basketball scene will be priceless. With this treasure being displayed, his legacy will continue to touch the hearts of Filipino hoop fans.
