Apple David sends a message to her Shooting Stars opponents, one year after the viral moment in Passi.
Daig pa ng masuwerte ang magaling.
PBA courtside reporter Apple David truly embodied that phrase when she delivered that four-point Granny Shot for Team Red in the 2023 PBA All-Stars in Passi, Iloilo.
"First time ko i-try, na-shoot. Daig ng masuwerte ang magaling. Kasi 'yung ibang nakalaban, atleta. Mga talagang naglalaro. Eh tayo, competitive lang," she said at the sidelines of the 2024 PBA All-Star Weekend in Bacolod.
It became a hilarious moment. Who would've thought it would go in?
"Nakakataba ng puso," she said of the impact of her shot. David does admit though there's pressure to defend her crown, but it's the good kind.
Whose idea was it anyway?
"Hindi ko talaga prinaktis. Parang naging decision right then and there," David admitted. "The last thing I want is an airball. Last minute, bahala na."
It's not completely an out-of-the blue shot. David said before warm-ups, Meralco Bolts' Chris Newsome wanted her to throw the ball from her general chest area, but felt she would have no control.
"Parang mas may kumpyansa sa ganun kasi may aim," she said of her shot from between the legs.
Will Apple do it again this year though?
"Ayoko siya praktisin kasi nakakahiya. First time siguro uli," she said. "Hook shot!"
She was feeling generous though with her competitors this year.
"Nararamdaman ko na sila, gustong makabawi. Siguro try din nila 'yung ganung shot. Malay mo, mag-work sa kanila," David said.
"Good luck and may the most competitive team win!"
The Shooting Stars event will take place on Sunday, March 24 at 5 p.m. before the All-Stars Game.
