“It's really normal like before... Honestly, I feel better physically. I feel better now compared to the past years." - LA Tenorio
It’s been just over a month since LA Tenorio made his return to the basketball court, and while his on-court production is not what it's used to... yet, the mere fact that he's back this soon is a mark that he's a true survivor.
Speaking on One Sports’ The Game, Tenorio opened up about his health journey, sharing some good news as he navigates life after his battle against Stage 3 colon cancer.
"So far, wala naman akong mga maintenance meds,” said Tenorio. “It's really normal like before, but kasi nasa one year span pa ako ng what happened sakin before.”
"Observation period palang ito, so part of that one year is every three months, check-up. So, I have to go to my doctor and have a check-up every three months,” he added.
Despite the challenges of treatment and recovery, Tenorio said that he has no strict restrictions, with his doctor's advise leaning towards moderation.
This ultimately led to a joint decision with his wife to change their diet and lifestyle—which has worked in favor for Tenorio.
"Honestly, I feel better physically. I feel better now compared to the past years, although, I'm much younger the past years, but you know, with my age right now, parang I feel better pa rin,” said Tenorio.
The news should come as a positive sign not just for Tenorio but also for Ginebra fans, as the Gin Kings go for another PBA title.
Since Tenorio re-entered the lineup, Ginebra is 4-2 and remains in the mix for a twice-to-beat edge in the playoffs. The defending champions wrap up their schedule on January 13 vs. NLEX at the Ibalong Centrum for Recreation in Legazpi City.
