With the new year coming up, basketball fans will be in for another exciting ride thanks to the different hoops tournaments that 2024 has to offer.

For Filipinos, the exciting action starts on January 3 as the Meralco Bolts go up against the New Taipei Kings in the EASL Home and Away Season at the PhilSports Arena.

Former NBA player Jeremy Lin will lead the charge for New Taipei, the man behind the legendary 'Linsanity' run.

This will be Lin’s first time playing in the Philippines, though he’s already no stranger to playing against the Bolts.

Joining Lin will be some familiar faces whom Filipinos have seen play in the country.

These include former Bay Area Dragons player Hayden Blankley and import Tony Mitchell, who suited up previously for the NLEX Road Warriors and Magnolia Hotshots.

Indeed, this will be a must-watch game for many Filipino fans who are looking to start the year with some hoops action.

The Bolts will be looking to get back on track in the EASL after their heartbreaking loss to the Seoul SK Knights last December 27.

Meralco, who currently sports a 1-3 record and is at the bottom of Group B, will need to win its remaining games to stay in contention for a semifinals berth.

New Tapei, meanwhile, will look to continue its undefeated run so far in the tournament.

And a Manila version of Linsanity might be all it takes.
